After his historical wins against Oscar “The Golden Boy” Dela Hoya last December in 2008 and recently over Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton in May 2, 2009, the pound-for-pound king will take another milestone in his career by fighting and trying to take his seventh world title from the WBO Welterweight Champion, Miguel Cotto.

The fight has not been finalized yet but if Cotto wins in his fight against Joshua Clottey on June 13 in his first title defense, he can then arrange an appointment to Manny Pacquiao. The fight can happen in the last quarter of this year. Whether the fight will fall on the 144 or 142 pounds limit, Cotto’s crown will still be at stake. The two will take it on to the acclaimed boxing Mecca of the world-the Madison Square Garden in New York City. Pacquiao will have his first fight appearance in the venue.

Top Rank Promotions head Bob Arum Said that the fight will surely be a box office hit and will sure be a good crowd pleaser. If Pacquiao wins in the fight, the Filipino boxing icon will be known as the only one who was able to claim seven world titles-a sure hall of famer. I bet all Filipinos are waiting for that to happen.
